Fraxel for Stretch Marks

At the Body Treatment Center, we recognize that improving the appearance of your body is not only about tightening and sculpting.  Many people, who have previously gained or lost weight, have developed stretch marks on their skin.  The most common areas to develop stretch marks (referred to in medicine as ‘striae’) are the abdomen, thighs, arms, and breasts. Although there are many stretch mark creams being marketed and sold, there is no evidence that stretch mark creams do anything to help remove stretch marks.  The best way to remove stretch marks permanently is with a treatment called the Fraxel laser treatment. The Fraxel laser treatment for stretch marks works by sending tiny columns of energy through the skin’s surface.  This laser energy stimulates the production of healthy collagen and skin cells, to take the place of the unsightly stretch marks.  A short series of four treatments is necessary for most people to see significant improvement on their body. Prior to the Fraxel laser treatment, we apply a topical numbing agent to your skin.  After the topical numbing is complete, you will feel only mild heat during the treatment.  Improvement may be noticed after each treatment, though the most dramatic improvement will be appreciated after the series of treatments is completed.  The Fraxel laser treatment is safe for all skin types.  At the Body Treatment Center in New York City, we have found that our patients are consistently pleased with the improvement they notice in the appearance of their stretch marks.
